Our echocardiograph machine with an artery scan in progress

We use this machine for imaging arteries and the heart itself.

After heart attacks we can assess how much damage has
occurred. We also do a ‘road test’ on the heart. This
is called a stress echocardiogram. The heart is imaged before
and after either exercise or a drug infusion with
dobutamine.  This is a drug with  adrenaline-like properties.
Dripped into a vein, mixed in a saline solution it makes the
heart speed up and demonstrate its capability to beat with
more force. Any damaged areas fail to work and the amount
of damage can be easily assessed.
